Damaged Freight

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I am literally in shock over the callousness and lack of concern of - Freight Center, located at 34125 U.S. 19 N., Suite 300, Palm Harbor, Florida 34684. Their telephone number is 1-80*-716-****. They advertise themselves as experts in the shipment of freight, and as customer focused, stating "At FreightCenter, we pride ourselves on offering a first-rate shipping experience, complete with quality service and customer satisfaction". Yet, when the rubber met the road, the company abandoned us. On the company website it discusses the owner's experience as a United States Army Ranger, a position which typically seeds one with a sense of service, dedication, sacrifice and ethics. Yet this particular Army Ranger left my husband, also an Army Ranger, behind - completely violating the Ranger creed. All in all, this company offered the worst customer service I have ever experienced. The short version of the story (I can provide the long one if you are interested) is this: We needed freight valued at $250,000.00 shipped from Pennsylvania to Washington State. Based on Freight Express's assurances, we hired the company to ship the freight. They hired a company called Speed Express GG Inc. to actually transport it. From the very beginning Freight Express and Speed Express knew that the last leg of the trip was on a ferry, and the price reflected that. They assured us that there was $100,000.00 of cargo insurance, and that they had verified this coverage. My husband flew to Pennsylvania and paid $4,000.00 to a professional rigging company to load the freight into the semi-truck trailer and secure it. We expected that when it arrived in Washington it would be exactly as we last observed it in Pennsylvania. However, at some point thereafter, our freight disappeared. Freight Center couldn't answer our questions about where our freight was, and Speed Express kept changing its story. Soon it became apparent that Speed Express was not being honest - for instance - their reps told us our freight was stuck in a snowstorm in Colorado, when a quick check of the weather made clear there was no snowstorm there. Eventually our freight did arrive, but our stomachs dropped when we realized the truck and trailer were different than the ones we had placed our freight into. We moved from sick to our stomachs to vomiting when we opened the back. There was significant damage to our freight - determined later to total over $20,000.00. When I contacted Speed Express to complain, they denied that the freight was transferred - even after I showed them photos of both trucks and trailers (which clearly established the transfer). They were bizarre - laughing at me constantly, pretending they didn't know who I was, making me repeat my contact info over and over, harassing me by calling me dozens of times in a row and yelling at me, and even accusing me of making them need to take anti-depressives. They never admitted to transferring the freight - and their insurer denied our claim, stating that there was no coverage. We eventually learned through our own detective work that the original driver was afraid of boats or water, and thus refused to take the ferry, and had a friend transfer the freight into a different truck and bring it over. In the meantime, Freight Express did NOTHING, and took no responsibility whatsoever. They, in fact, did not even refund the monies we had paid them. They basically walked away and gave us "the hand" - keeping all of the money we paid and leaving us high and dry - not even paying Speed Express! Last week I got a letter that Speed Express was planning to sue me as Freight Express never paid them with the money that I paid Freight Express to pass on to Speed Express! I am in complete disbelief at the continuation of this nightmare. When will it end? If you can help I would be eternally grateful. A little publicity might be just what we need. We are out $20,000.00 in damage and are now being sued for $5,700.00 after we already paid that! Thanks! Amaro

We were quoted $380 to ship 6 identical bar stools in February. A month later another charge for $550 shows up on our credit card saying the stools were over weight. They had every stool at a different weight between 65 and 90 lbs!! We sent them a photo of the stool on our scale showing that they only weigh 30lbs and since they are identical items they will all weight the same. We were given the run around for 4 months until we finally contacted the BBB. The BBB was extremely helpful and we finally our refund. In reading other reviews, this seems to be a standard business practice of Freight Center. I have owned by furniture company for 20 years and ship freight all of the time. Have never had such a bad experience as we had with Freight Center. There are other, reputable companies out there. Use another company!! Avoid these crooks!!

Constant overcharges and lost freight.

Dont use them. Period. I'm a business owner and ship approx $200-250K per year in combined shipping (parcel, crates, ltl, etc) and have shipped with multiple shippers over the years and these guys are the worst. Stay away. My scales are certified every 30 days and dead accurate. We always add a few extra pounds to each BOL just to cover bases but we constantly got these double weight overcharges and they take the money out of your account first, then you have to fight for months to get it back even if you have all the proof. What broke our relationship was a shipment of 2 custom hand made tables worth $12,500 for my client and over the course of a month, lost it. It was only going 300 miles. Its a 2 day delivery tops. I even paid an additional $500 for another truck through them to go pick it up and drive it to my now extremely upset client and they kept that money as well. Took weeks to get a return phone call or email and then it was "well, just wait for our decision in 120 days". Some of the reps are friendly but its the infrastructure and lack of accountability that makes this company a huge liability for shipping. From one small business owner to another, dont. There are lots of other options.

Hello Michael, We apologize for the extended delay in responding to this feedback, but we'd like you to know we appreciate you taking the time to let us know about your experience. As I’m sure you are aware, when the carrier is in possession of your freight, the carrier will always weigh and measure the freight using sophisticated equipment and technology along with inspecting the freight.

If there are any discrepancies between what the customer reported and what the carrier reports, the carrier will bill for any differences. The carrier then sends FreightCenter a revised invoice along with an inspection certificate. Any additional charges originate from the freight carrier, not FreightCenter, we simply issue this revised invoice from the carrier to the customer. The claims process is handled directly by the carrier as well.

Therefore, we can only advise on the standard length of time that the carrier has indicated to us. In this case, the carrier indicated their standard claims process time is 120 business days. While we certainly hope that we have a resolution before 120 business days, we advise that it could possibly take up to the 120 days to hear back from the carrier and we must follow the carrier’s claim process procedure. We hope this helps to explain in greater detail and we are always happy to answers any additional questions or help in any way.

Thank you. FreightCenter

I got a quote from FC to ship a snowblower from Mass to MI. The initial quote was $175. A few dauys later later called back and said It was a little more Like $375 . I did not have time to deal with it and snow was coming I said go ahead as long as there wont be any more up charges. The truck first came without the snowblower. That was a wasted morning. The next day it showed and everything was good. 3 months later FC charges my CC for an additional $302. They said it weighed more than what I estimated. We used the weight of the manufacturers invoice plus extra for the skid. By now it was to late to reweigh the thing. So it cost me almost $700 to ship a 300lb skid 500 miles. I can ship a car to Fl for that. My CC company (chase said they could not help me) these people are modern day scam artist beware!

I got a estimate from Freightcenter to ship a Jet Engine from Florida to California, They ask what weight was i said around 900 pounds, they gave me a price of $611.88 which sounded fair i said ok. Engines was picked up and weight 913 pounds Freightcenter said no problem its only 13 pounds, I paid the $611.88 engine was delivered 5 days later done deal. Two months later Freightcenter charges my credit card a second time for $961.55 without even telling me. I call them asking why and was told shipment was overweight . So the extra 13 pounds cost $961.55 freightcenter said thats how it works if you give us the wrong weight, When i said you guys are the ones that weight it he had no answer. I call My credit card company they took care of it . SCAMMERS and LIARS

My story is so long, it would take 5 pages of how they tried to screw me at every turn. This "business" is supposedly run or owned by a veteran. As a Vietnam era veteran myself, this guy is a disgrace to the veteran community as well as the transportation industry. I would NEVER do business with them again and I would highly recommend that prospective customers do their research. By the way, they are only brokers (pretty much a dirty word in the trucking industry) and they do not have any trucks of their own. You don't know who they're going to get to haul (or break) your items/freight, etc. Find a real trucking company with their own trucks. You can ask them for their MC number, check them out on the government website safer.fmcsa.dot.gov and scroll down to Company Snapshot under FMCSA Searches. Click on Snapshot and type in the company name or if you have the MC # or DOT #, enter either of the three in the search box and click the appropriate one above. Then scroll down to see how many trucks they have (even 1 is OK if it's a one truck operation - Owner Operator) and see how many drivers compared to how many trucks. That would be a good start to see if they are actually a real trucking company.

Charged me 2000 lbs shipping weight for a small block V8!! :-(

I used Freight Center back in Dec to ship a strip down Pontiac 455 long block engine from TN to VA. The quote was done online for 560lbs and .85 weight factor. The online quotes came in and $189 using CTC Trucking was the lowest bid. I accepted the offer and set up an acct online and made the payment. The next day all of the documents and BOL came over email to put on the container and one copy provided to the truck driver. The delivery went thru ATL and on to VA and arrived on the 4th day. 2 weeks later I get an email alerting me $625 was taken out of my acct because someone wrote 2000 lbs on the BOL. I spoke with CTC about it with no assistance since they actually handled the shipment and then filed a complaint with Freight Center. 2 months later nothing has been addressed until I followed up yesterday. The Customer Service center then asked me to find reliable sources on the internet that references the weight of a Pontiac motor and they ll consider reimbursing me for the overcharge. I provided 3 sources which one was used for the quote and all are in the 550 to 700lb range. They could ve called any number of companies who rebuild engines in the US and got a actual weight to validate my estimate but wouldn't!!! Somehow Freight Center seems to think that the earth has magnified it s gravitational pull by 4X!!! BEWARE and use a prepaid debit card to protect yourself from ripoffs like this!!! It s not what you know but who stole your money after you proved in this case and wont do the right thing!!!

Worst Company Ever

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Terrible Experience and Even Worse Customer Service. After paying for my shipment and it being delivered they hit me with a Invoice that was almost the same amount $223 that I paid to ship my item. They claimed it over the weight. I provided them with a Manufacturer Spec Sheet Proving that I was Correct about the weight. Even after that they said I still owed them. Out of principal I did not pay the Mysterious Invoice they made up Fraudulently and now I’m being harassed by Hunter Warfield and my Credit Score is going down due to this. Worst Experience Ever... Please Nobody Use this Company it’s not worth this experience

Trumped Up Fees

Horrible service. Beating customers out of money with trumped up fees. I used FreightCenter to deliver something to another state and they contracted the service to SAIA trucking. They asked me did I know the weight of the item I would be shipping so they could determine the quote and I did because I had weighed it myself. I took the item to SAIA myself to save money on them having to pick the item up. I personally watched the warehouse supervisor put the item on the pallet, wrap it, and weigh it and was given the official bill of lading which had the description of item, weight, and signature of the warehouse supervisor. SAIA did an excellent job. The item made it to the destination on time in excellent condition. 2 weeks later FreightCenter charged my credit card saying the item weighed more than the weight I had given originally. But as I said before, i had weighed the item and watched SAIA weigh it and it was the same weight i had given FreightCenter, not to mention it was the same weight on the bill of lading that I had which was official and signed by the SAIA warehouse supervisor. FreightCentrer said I had to file a dispute and I basically just sent the picture of the bill of lading showing the weight I had given them was the correct weighr. Weeks later, they informed me I had lost the dispute ( not surprised) because they had a different weight from the SAIA warehouse where the item was sent that was more than the one in question. So they made their decision using the evidence more favorable to them. Imagine how many customers they use this on. Lots of extra money huh?

I purchased an item from a Company who used Freight Center for delivery. The shipment has been in Phoenix for 3 weeks!!! No calls or contact about why. I have contacted numerous people at FreightCenter and all they can say is we will contact the carrier and they will let me know what the problem is. Nobody seems to have an answer or a response on why it has taken 3 weeks (probably longer now). I had one rep say they had been trying to contact me to schedule a delivery. Well they weren't trying very hard and WHY do you need to schedule the delivery?! You have the address, JUST DELIVER IT!!!

Do NOT use them

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Same experience here as so many others reported before. I am convinced that this is a scheme they had found out about to make money like bandits: Quoting a relatively good rate (You might find other companies who give better quotes though) I thought they are professional as they appear as that at the beginning. A few weeks after the shipment arrived you receive a billing adjustment, which then makes the shipment prize 3 times as what was quoted originally. Originally it was $250, the adjustment was $500, these are just crazy numbers. And there is no possibility to proof it to them that you gave the correct measurements and weight as they will not give a *** after the money is charged from your credit card. I am wondering how this is possible and still no official investigations...
